Daily stamps

After each day ends (UTC), everything overhead24 recorded that day gets a fingerprint, and that fingerprint is timestamped in Bitcoin. Anyone can check that our records existed by then and haven't been changed since.

What is stamped

Every detection in the event log, every daily brief and weekly roundup, and the fingerprint of every data file the worker downloaded or worked out that day, including the orbital data from Space-Track.org it used. Each record is hashed with its own random value, the hashes are combined into one, and that goes into a small public manifest that also names the previous day's. The manifest's sha256 is sent to the public OpenTimestamps calendars, which put it in a Bitcoin block, usually within a few hours.

The manifests and proofs are public; the records behind them are not published here. One record can be proved on its own without showing any other.

How to check a day

Download a day's manifest and proof into the same folder. If you run a Bitcoin node, the OpenTimestamps client (pip install opentimestamps-client) checks the proof against it:

ots verify overhead24-stamp-2026-11-02.json.ots

It finds the manifest next to the proof and confirms the block from your own node. Without a node, drop both files on opentimestamps.org, which checks them using public block explorers. Each manifest's prev is the sha256 of the day before's, so one confirmed day vouches for the chain up to it.

Stamped days

  • 2 Nov 2026 · 120 records · waiting for a Bitcoin block · manifest · proof
  • 19 Oct 2026 to 1 Nov 2026 · 5,902 records · in Bitcoin block 974,312 (2 Nov, 23:00 UTC) · manifest · proof

For programs: /api/stamps lists every day with its digest, status and download links.
