About overhead24

overhead24 shows what is above you: every active satellite on a live globe, the passes you can see tonight, satellites close to each other, and upcoming launches. It is free and needs no account.

How it works

Positions are calculated on your device with SGP4, the standard model for published orbital elements, from the latest element sets released by CelesTrak. Nothing is estimated or filled in: when the data is old, the app tells you how old.

Tonight's passes run from now until sunrise where you are. A pass counts as visible only when the satellite is in sunlight while your sky is dark.

Proximity lists satellites that stay within 100 km of each other, and close passes under 5 km in the next six hours. These are predictions from public orbital data, not measurements, so close-pass distances are shown in bands.

Your privacy

There are no accounts, ads or tracking cookies. Your location is saved only in your browser, and every calculation that uses it runs on your device. It is never sent to us.

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. Your browser loads a small script from Cloudflare that reports the page you opened, the site that sent you, your browser type and how quickly the page loaded, and Cloudflare works out your country from your IP address. It uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites, and we only see totals.

Like any website, our host (Railway) and the file storage the satellite catalogue downloads from (Supabase) see your IP address with each request and keep short request logs. Those requests never include your location.

Install it

On iPhone, open overhead24 in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and tap Install app. It then opens like an app and works offline with the last data it downloaded.
